The Temple of Olympian Zeus
The Temple of Olympian Zeus, located on the southeast side of the Acropolis, is the biggest ancient temple in Greece. Its construction started at the beginning of the 6th century BC and wasn’t completed until 700 years later. The Temple was dedicated to Zeus; its sides were 96 meters long and 40 meters in its east and west façades. Today only 14 of its 104 Corinthian columns are preserved, which are 17 meters high, have a diameter of 2.6 meters and they are made of Pentelic marble.
